Foods That Can Make You Happy
In general, people have been taught to believe that “comfort” foods are bad for the body and should be avoided. At times, if your comfort food is essentially candy or other junk foods, this can be true. Other times, comfort foods can be perfectly nourishing and good for us to eat. A number of foods honestly do elevate your mood when you eat them. When you are feeling a little down and are in need of an emotional pick-me-up, try a couple of these.
Eggs, believe it or not, are wonderful for helping you combat depression. Just see to it that you don’t throw away the egg yolk. The yolk is the part of the egg that is the most important in terms of helping you cheer up. Eggs, the yolks especially, are high in B vitamins. These B vitamins are fantastic for helping to boost your mood. This is because these vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that affect your mood–run better. Try eating an egg and jolly up!
Put together a trail mix from seeds and/or nuts. Your mood can be raised by eating peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and other types of nuts. This is because these nuts are high in magnesium, which helps to raise your production of serotonin. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical substance that dictates to the brain how to feel at any given time. The more serotonin in your brain, the happier you’ll feel. Not just that but nuts, in particular, are a great protein food source.
Cold water fish are excellent for eating if you are wanting to fight depression. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, etc, they’re all high in omega-3 and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that promote the quality and the function of your brain’s gray matter. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can basically help you fight back depression.
Some grains are truly wonderful for driving away bad moods. Millet, quinoa, barley, etc are excellent at helping you feel better. They can help you feel full for longer as well, helping you feel better. Feeling hungry can be awful! The reason these grains are so wonderful for your mood is that they are easy to digest. You digest these foods more quickly than other foods which can help increase your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel happier, mood wise.
Green tea is truly great for your mood. You were simply anticipating to read that in this article, weren’t you? Green tea is rich in an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies have discovered that this amino acid actually induces brain waves. This will improve your brain’s focus while simultaneously loosening up the rest of your body. You were already aware that that green tea helps you feel better. Now you are well aware that it helps you to raise your moods also!
As you can see, you don’t need junk food or foods that are not good for you to feel better! Try a few of these instead!
